SUSPICIOUS TRADEMARK REGISTRATION LAW FIRMS

IMPORTANT UPDATE: With the help of a professional scambaiter we will call “Robert” we have traced the scammer whom we believe is behind at least HALF of the deceptive “Intellectual Attorney” websites listed below. He is a scammer located in Islamabad, Pakistan, not far from Islamabad University. We will not reveal how we learned this information to anyone but law enforcement. (Please contact us!) An attorney who claimed to be from Newark, New Jersey named “Brian Collins” uses the website LanhamGroupNJ.us.  But we were able to trace this man to Islamabad, Pakistan in November, 2024! (On January 16, 2025 a targeted victim of this fraud spoke to the scammer and identified his accent as likely Pakistani! This likely scammer location was corroborated by a businessman we spoke with in early January, 2026. See update below!)

(UPDATED BELOW on 5/10/2026 with more fake/suspicious attorney websites.) WARNING: It is our opinion that the trademark services law firms listed on this page are deceptive and NOT to be trusted! Review the many lies and deceptive practices listed in this article and decide for yourself…

On July 17, 2024 a man who works for a tech support company received two urgent, identical emails from Attorney Chris Smith with the subject line “Protect Your Brand Notice for Business Name.” Chris Smith’s urgent email came from his business website at TrademarkServicesHub.com. He was informing the recipient that someone else had contacted him to ask about legally registering the same business name as the company the recipient worked for! Attorney Chris Smith was reaching out to urge the man to protect his business name before someone else took legal control over it!

However, the recipient of this email doesn’t accept information online at face value. He tried to Google the address listed for Trademark Services Hub and found no such business was found at this address. The recipient also thought that it would be extremely unethical for any lawyer who is contacted by one potential client (to register a business name) TO then contact another person who already uses that same business name and report this effort!  When we heard about this lawyer’s email, we were immediately reminded of a story we wrote back in February, 2024 titled “Scam Law Firm? You Be the Judge.” The design and format of an email from Steven Gebelin sent to employees of the same tech firm on January 11, 2024 is very similar to the email sent from Christopher Smith, both in design, presentation and content. But the July email came from a different domain name, TrademarkPeak.com.  Since we published that article last February about the fraud associated with TrademarkPeak.com and Steven Gebelin, other people online have also pointed fingers at these bogus companies, including some saying that clients who make an initial payment for these “trademark infringement services” will simply have their money stolen! Complaints can be found at these, and other, very legitimate websites…

This type of fraud, beginning with a high pressure “urgent” email, is significantly more pervasive than we first anticipated back in February, 2024. At that time, we found a total of TEN fake trademark infringement websites. In this second round of exploring suspicious emails from Attorney Christopher Smith, we’ve uncovered another 18 fake websites and services related to it. Here are just a few of the reasons why we believe these trademark infringement services and attorneys are very likely fraudulent in addition to the fact that they are very similar to the fraud we uncovered in February, 2024….

Fact #1: Mr. Christopher Smith, Intellectual Property Attorney of Trademark Services Hub, lists his office address as 1901 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, CA 90067. The website USearch.com, provides lists of all tenants in office buildings, such as 1901 Avenue of the Stars. We searched their list of all 97 tenants on July 17 and could not find anyone named Christopher Smith or his business called Trademark Services Hub. (Note: another address frequently used on these bogus sites is 11400 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA. USearch.com also did not show any of these businesses at this address.)

Fact #2: We also visited Attorney Christopher Smith’s website trademarkserviceshub.com and found  multiple references that say his firm has 10+ years of experience in trademark and copyright infringement law. But if that is true, why did a WHOIS tool tell us that he registered his business domain on Jun 19, 2024, less than a month before the above email was sent?

Fact #3: Trademark Services Hub offers a testimonial from a man identified as “William Parker, CEO of Skyblue Tech.” We were unable to verify anyone named “William Parker” and his company Skyblue Tech. However, we were able to do a reverse image search and discovered that the image of “William Parker, CEO of Skyblue Tech” was found on more than 20 other websites around the world, suggesting it is a stock image sold online. This led us directly to this stock photo, which can be purchased from iStockPhoto.com!

Fact #4: We conducted a Google search for the business phone number, 213-767-7420, used by Attorney Chris Smith. We were not surprised to find several other suspicious businesses from various law firms, besides TrademarkServicesHub.com, about copyright and trademark infringement! They included….

    But what was very surprising to us was that this same phone number, 213-767-7420, used on these 4 websites, also turned up on a professional ghostwriting service website called Vista Book Publishers at VistaBookPublishers.com. This domain, and 3 of the other 4 domains, were all registered less than a month before we found them, and using the same Registrar! (Registered on June 19, 2024) The 5th trademark registration service business, TrademarkProHarbours.com, was registered less than 2 months ago. Adding to our suspicions that the same cybercriminals are behind all of this fraud is the fact that TrademarkNavigators.com and TrademarkServicesHub.com have identical websites!

    Fact #5: After seeing two nearly identical websites, we tried to Google an exact sentence found on the Trademark Services Hub website, as well as most of the other websites, to see where else it might turn up. We Googled “With over a decade of experience, we have been providing trademark services to businesses, safeguarding them against potential infringement risks.”  Google returned two more suspicious trademark infringement services, GlobalTrademarkOffice.com and ExpertsMark.com. The former is about six and one-half months old and the latter is 11 months old.

    We visited these websites and, once again for multiple reasons, were suspicious of their authenticity. For example, the GlobalTrademarkOffice.com website had several references to its business name as “Trademark USPTO.” We ran a WHOIS look up for trademarkuspto.com and discovered that this had been a registered business which recently expired! Why would a legitimate law firm’s business website allow its domain to expire after 1 year, AND start a new business website 6 months after registering that previous business domain?

    Fact #6: The depth of this fraud doesn’t end here. When we used Google to try to find “William Parker” CEO of Skyblue Tech, the man who supposedly left glowing testimonials on many of these bogus trademark infringement websites, Google again returned five more VERY suspicious and nearly identical websites plus another five related websites….

        • Trademark Pro Guardian lists their phone number as 213-423-4748. A Google search for this phone number also shows that it is used for Trademark Enrolment at trademarkenrolment.com  (registered on 3/22/2024 and hosted on a server in London, England; this domain is listed as malicious on VirusTotal.) Though it uses a completely different website design, this business lists their address as “1901 Avenue of the Stars” in Los Angeles. Their spelling of the word “enrolment” and their hosting the site in the UK suggests to us that the criminals behind this fraud are outside the US. A review found on TrademarkEnrolment.com was posted by someone named “Hailey Robert.” She said “They are fast, reliable, and make everything effortless.”  Her name and exact review was also found on three other trademark protection services websites: Trademarkfort.com (Found on VirusTotal), TMRegistrationHub.com and ExpressTrademarkPro.com. (Another review by “Adam Ridges” was also found on this same group of websites.)
        • The phone number, 213-423-4748, also led us to a complaint on Scampulse against a company called Brand Profilers – brandprofilers.com. This domain was registered less than 2 weeks ago on 7/10/2024. Oddly, the website lists other names on it, such as: Rulify – rulibrandprofilers.com with an office number: 123 345 6789 and is clearly not yet completed! It still contains latin filler text and an address of “USA” as of 7/23/2024.  (NOTE: SafeWebTalk.com shows a similar website design as all these other fraudulent websites AND gives brandprofilers.com a very low trust rating.)
        • This search also led us to a suspicious website called Marks Filers – marksfilers.com (as in “trademark filers”) where we found a testimonial by “Fred Hilton” from a company called “Mediobanca.” A search for Fred Hilton then led us to Xpress Mark – xpressmark.com, where we found more fake testimonials, such as one using this stock image on FreePik.com of a woman that Xpress Mark called CEO Linda John.

    It is our opinion that all of these many trademark infringement services are fraudulent. Remember that we first fell into this rabbit hole when a man contacted us after he received an urgent email from Attorney Christopher Smith. And that email was similar to an email that this same man had received back in January, from a lawyer identified as Steven Gebelin, from TrademarkPeak.com. The amount of suspicious content and deception we have uncovered left us feeling that we could never trust Attorneys Christopher Smith or Steven Gebelin, or any of these websites! Moreover, the perpetrators of this fraud must clearly be earning a lot of money to have created the 31 fake trademark infringement law service websites (plus the ghostwriting service) that we have uncovered as a result of our investigation in February and July, 2024. We are also certain that we have not hit the bottom of this crazy rabbit hole after just 4 hours of digging. There are very likely more fake websites than the total 31 we’ve uncovered, and likely many more to come. Given their effort, we strongly suspect that this fraud has been lucrative for the cyberciminal goup behind this fraud!

    Before you engage with a trademark attorney, due your DUE DILIGENCE! Use a WHOIS tool to verify the age of the website! We also encourage you to demand a video chat with the attorney, and speak with their references over the phone!

    UPDATE June 21, 2026: We believe Smith and Johnson IP Law is a fraud!

    Another fraudulent Trademark Attorney website has been reported to us by the team at Trademark Express and a businessman who was targeted by this scam. The business man received texts from the phone number 201-551-2894. This is the phone number of a supposed trademark attorney law firm called Smith and Johnson IP Law, using both domains smithandjohnsoniplaw.com and smithandjohnson-iplaw.com. This 201-551-2894 has been reported as a scammer’s number on both 800Notes.com and the BBB Scamtracker website.  The person who texted the businessman said that someone else was trying to file the same name, logo and slogan that the businessman had been using for years. But this was all a lie to get the businessman to pay for services he didn’t need. Here are several more reasons why people believe that SmithandJohnsonIPLaw.com is a fraud….

    1. The smithandjohnsoniplaw.com website shows two addresses: 1050 Wall St W, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071 and 530 Technology Dr, Irvine, CA 92618. Both are office buildings. But this supposed Attorney’s website lists no floor or suite number in these two office buildings.

    2. On their About Us webpage they show a photo of their “powerhouse team committed to excellence.” This photo shows 7 women and 1 man standing on a set of stairs. But this photo is part of a photo set created and posted by reporter Andre J. Ellington in 2024 as part of an interview with a real trademark Attorney

    3. On June 21, both smithandjohnsoniplaw.com and smithandjohnson-iplaw.com showed the same identical websites, with the same phone number, address and photos. VirusTotal shows that smithandjohnsoniplaw.com is a phishing scam site and also identified smithandjohnson-iplaw.com as suspicious.

    4. The smithandjohnsoniplaw.com domain was registered on July 3, 2025, less than a year ago, and is hosted on a server in Hong Kong. While the smithandjohnson-iplaw.com domain was registered on November 28, 2025 using a proxy service in the Netherlands. This law firm is supposedly a US law firm with offices in New Jersey and California, so using registration or hosting in other countries is suspicious!

    5. On their About Us page, the Smith and Johnson IP Law Firm says that they are “recognized by respected organizations such as the American Bar Association, Yahoo, Law Practice Today and News Nation…” We used Google’s “site” command, for example, to search both NewsNationNow.com and the American Bar Association websites for “Smith and Johnson IP Law” or smithandjohnsoniplaw.com or smithandjohnson-iplaw.com.  Google found NO INFORMATION whatsoever on these sites about this law firm!

    6. Trustpilot shows that smithandjohnsoniplaw.com (Smith and Johnson IP Law) has an awful 2.5 star rating, with several people calling them a scammer’s website, as of June 21.

    7. On their About Us page, the Smith and Johnson IP Law firm shows only 1 Attorney’s photo. He is named and his California Bar License number is given. There is, in fact, such an Attorney with that name and license number, but he is listed as a Public Defender only (as of 6/21/26) and his CA Bar information does not say he works at this law firm! But also suspicious is the fact that the photo of this man on this website is simply called “man.jpg“.  Why would they call the photo “man” especially if this is a leading attorney?  We think it is likely that this photo was AI-generated. It cannot be found anywhere else on the web by Google.

    IMPORTANT UPDATE May 28, 2026:

    The lawyer, JK Ogata, whom we’ve cited below as suspicious. is the name of a REAL & LEGITIMATE Attorney in California. (Bar #325914) It is likely that this real attorney’s name is being misused by scammers who are behind this suspicious website we’ve cited here…

    On May 7, we were contacted by a real attorney who informed us that one of his clients was contacted and spoke with an attorney named JK Ogata of JKOgata Law Group (jkogatalawgroup.com) Attorney Ogata reached out concerning a trademark that had already been filed. The attorney who contacted us called JK Ogata a fraud and we also found this supposed trademark attorney HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS as well! Here’s why…

    1. The domain jkogatalawgroup.com was just registered in the Bahamas on April 23, about 2 weeks ago: https://www.whois.com/whois/jkogatalawgroup.com
    2. Scam-Detector.com rates his website as “suspicious” and “dubious” https://www.scam-detector.com/validator/jkogatalawgroup-com-review/
    3. His website lists his address in an office building at 475 Market Street, Elmwood Park, NJ. But he doesn’t offer any floor or suite number. This is scammer behavior!
    4. We searched the website SuperLawyers.com for an attorney named Ogata in New Jersey and found none.
    5. The phone number on his site, “201-725-6107,” is also found on a suspicious website called legalmarkexpert.com.
    6. The photo of Mr. JK Ogata on the Team page can be found on LOTS of websites. It is a free picture available here:  https://www.magnific.com/free-photos-vectors/middle-aged-man-suit. In fact, we found that several of the photos used on their Team page are free stock images, including the photo of  Senior Attorney, Jonathan Kenji Ogata…

    IMPORTANT UPDATE April 30, 2026:

    On April 30, a real Attorney named Michael Eddy, from Patent.org, contacted us to share a fraudulent email he had just received. The previous day he had filed a trademark with the US patent & Trademark Office on behalf of a client. The next day he received an email claiming to be from the USPTO but it did not come from uspto.gov. It came from a malicious mimic domain called govusptonotification.com. Govusptonotification.com is not legitimate, nor affiliated with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). It is a fraudulent domain used in email scams targeting trademark applicants.

    The email sent to Mr. Eddy was rather long and suggested that it was authorized by an Attorney for the USPTO office named Ellen J Perkins. Though there is an Attorney by that name at the USPTO (as of 4/2026), she had not sent the email…

    There is no website (as of 4/30/26) to be found at govusptonotification.com and it was just registered less than 6 months earlier using a proxy service to hide the real ownership information. Attorney Michael Eddy also reported this fraud to the USPTO through their reporting email at TMScams@uspto.gov. If you received fraudulent or suspicious emails, texts or calls, we also urge you to report this fraud to TMScams@uspto.gov .

    IMPORTANT UPDATES January 8 – February 1, 2026:

    A real US Trademark and Intellectual Property Attorney reached out to us at the end of January to say that several of his clients have received the exact same phony email claiming to represent the US Patent Trademark Office. The email tells them that their trademark application is “now considered abandoned under USPTO rules.” (See screenshot below.) The clients are sent a “Certificate for Ownership” (<–click to see Certificate) supposedly created by Katherine Kelly Vidal, the current Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  They are pressured to contact the scammers by calling the FAKE USPTO phone number: 208-279-6803. This scam phone number is also found on the scammer’s website at elitetrademarkregistration.com and the email came from a free Gmail account! This scammer’s website was registered less than a month earlier through Namecheap on January 7, 2026. In addition to this phone number, the scammer uses several other fake domains to represent himself. They include usptofinalnoticetmr.com (registered through Namecheap on 8/25/25), uspto-gov.com (registered on 11/24/25), and usptounitedstatestmr.com (but not yet registered as of 2/2/26!). 

    We visited the fake trademark attorney website at elitetrademarkregistration.com and found lots of evidence of fraud, such as the fact that they say they have “10 years experience” when their domain was registered just a few weeks ago. Also, they have Testimonials that are obviously fake, including one photo of a woman whom they have named “Chris Jordan” and “Olivia.” But this photo was stolen from a Real Estate Agent in California, named Sarah. This scam website led us to two other HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS Trademark Protection Services websites that are essentially identical. Both use the same fake Testimonials and both claim to have been in business for 10 years…

    Chris DeMassa is founder of a 34 year old TradeMark Service business called TradeMark Express. He also has an interest in tracking down scammers who pretend to offer services in his industry. He has personally investigated and exposed more than 200 fake trademark attorney websites in the last few years. Below are just some of these additional SCAM Trademark Attorneys/Services that Chris DeMassa has found and brought to our attention in early January, 2026. Mr. DeMassa also informed us that he has collected IP address evidence showing that some of the scammers behind many of the fake trademark websites listed below are located in Pakistan! You should also notice below that a group of these fake websites were registered on the same date, March 15, 2025 and share the same phone number:  (732) 609-2316. Mr. DeMassa agrees with us that one cybercriminal gang operating out of Pakistan is primarily responsible for most of this fraud. Some of the websites below used the identical website design as shown above at the top of this article. That includes the same stock photos of supposed glowing Testimonials!

      • trademarkvictory.com – Trademark Victory – (732) 609-2316 (domain registered on 3/15/25; shows their address as 224 W49th, New York, NY but provides NO SUITE/OFFICE number! Website shows copyright of 2024 though the domain was registered a year later.)
      • trademarkregistrationsexperts.com – Trademark Registrations Experts – (732) 609-2316 (domain registered on 10/29/24)
      • trademarkproficiency[.]com – Trademark Proficiency – (866) 882-4007 (domain registered in the Netherlands on 11/10/2023; claims to be located at 455 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94105 but doesn’t show a Suite number; we called the realty firm overseeing this property and they confirmed that there is NO SUCH BUSINESS located there. Found on VirusTotal.com as malicious.)
      • trademarksprotege.com – Trademark Protege – (888) 909-9199 (registered in the Seychelles on 2/18/2025; claims to be located at 1045 Sansome St, San Francisco, CA but offers NO SUITE NUMBER! And WHY did they add an “s” to their domain name that is not in their business name?)


      In addition to the sites listed above, we recently found the following Canadian scam Trademark Attorney websites…

      • trademarkguardians.ca – Trademark Guardians – this scammer site was also identified in this LinkedIn post; the domain no longer appears to be registered as of 1/7/26.
      • tradesmarkinspect.ca – Trademark Inspect – (514) 500-4467 (registered on 9/19/25 but claim to be in business over a decade and have more than a 1000 clients; Scam-Detector.com rates this domain risky and dubious; this business claims that Galen G. Weston was a client and gave a great Testimonial but the photo they use is a stock image of another man that can be found on dozens of websites.)

      On January 16, 2026 a woman contacted us to say she received the email below from Attorney John Nelson of MarkGuardians.com. Her business is in Florida, just like Attorney John Nelson’s business. But when she checked the Florida State registry of businesses, she couldn’t find it! This woman called Mr. Nelson and told us that she thought he had either an Indian or Pakistani accent.  We’ve tracked this scammer to Pakistan!


      At the end of October, 2024 we heard from another man who received the email below from Intellectual Property Attorney named Richard Carter, from MarkGuardians.com. The email is the same as that received by other people who have reported these scams to us in the past. As a result of our investigation of MarkGuardians.com, we have several more websites to add to the list of scam trademark businesses and suspicious trademark businesses…..

      Based on our investigations, we believe these trademark attorney websites are also a complete fraud and to be avoided!

      Updated 11/12/2024 with more than 2 dozen fake/suspicious attorney websites:

      On November 11, 2024, we were contacted by a business who received the email below (click to enlarge) from intellectual property attorney, Brian Collins from New Jersey. The website Attorney Brian Collins uses is LanhamGroupNJ.us. The business owner suspected that this email was a fraud and sent it to us for our evaluation. We strongly believe this is a fraudulent attempt to pressure businesses into spending money on lies! Here’s why….

      1. The domain for the Lanham Group NJ website used by Brian Collins was registered on November 8, 2024, just 3 days before the email was sent! That means this website didn’t exist 4 days earlier!
      2. The person who registered the LanhamGroupNJ.us website is named Matt Bowman and said his organization is named Wink Croastlix and located at: Office 406, 12 Commerce St Newark, NJ 07102
      3. The LanhamGroupNJ.us website had many lies on it, including its address, Star Ratings and Copyright date.
      4. Brian Collins claims to be an Intellectual Property Attorney in the state of New Jersey. We searched all 11 pages of Intellectual Property Attorneys in Newark, NJ listed on Justia.com and could not find anyone named Brian Collins!
      5. We searched the official New Jersey Courts Government website for any attorney in the state of NJ whose name is Brian Collins and NO SUCH ATTORNEY NAME could be found!
      6. After conducting a search for both the phone number +1 (848) 999-5102 and the address Office 406, 12 Commerce Street, Newark, NJ 07102, we discovered two more identical trademark attorney websites: KrovatinJersey.us and MatrixPO.com.  All 3 websites use the same phone number, +1 (848) 999-5102, the same address as Office 406, 12 Commerce Street, Newark, NJ 07102.
      7. Both LanhamGroupNJ.us and KrovatinJersey.us use the same exact testimonials on their websites.
      8. Lanham Group NJ has a very low trust rating from Scam-Detector.com and KrovatinJersey.us is also considered suspicious by Scam-Detector.com (rating 25 out of 100).
      9. None of these businesses are listed on BBB.org

      During our investigation, we found this Reddit thread of people discussing getting emails like the one above from Trademark Attorneys.  On November 10, someone posted that they also received the same bogus email from a Brian Collins from Lanham Group NJ using the website LanhamGroupNJ.us. As a result, we started investigating the phone numbers, addresses, testimonials and more from the 3 fake Attorney websites above and discovered many more fake and suspicious trademark attorney websites.       The Testimonials on MatrixPO.com led us to find IDENTICAL testimonials and, in most cases, IDENTICAL WEBSITES on the following trademark attorney websites below. Many of these websites listed below use the identical website design, New Jersey address and phone number as shown above! Also, most of the domains below were registered by the same two names, “Samantha Sas” and “Shum Excellence” (from “Apartment 002, Miami, Florida”) All of the domains below, except the suspicious last domain, were registered between July 1 and November 8, 2024:

      Apex Trademark / apextrademark.com (registered in Iceland on 10/4/2021; uses an address that doesn’t exist: 3744 woodland ave, New Orleans, LA, Louisiana Source: according to the news website NOLA.com; VirusTotal.com finds this site suspicious)

      Cosmic Intellectual Law / cosmicintellectuallaw.us (registered on 7/15/2024; uses the same website as many of the fake businesses listed here, including the same New Jersey address and phone number shown above)
