Social Security Scams
[UPDATED 1/30/20] Starting in September, 2019 several TDS readers have reported that they have received “robocalls” urging them to call the “Social Security Administration” about their benefits. We have two example below.
The calls came from the following numbers:
800-928-6249 908-968-0925 800-076-1818
The first message says that “all your social benefits will be cancelled.” You are asked to call 415-429-1707, a number that is also listed on NoMoRobo.com.
On January 29, 2020 a TDS reader reported to us that he received a call from the “social security administration” telling him that his social security number had been put “on hold” and to press 1 for more information. Ridiculous! The call came from 800-692-9006. Other readers are reporting similar scam calls from:
Another TDS reader received the following voice message on January 30, 2020… “The legal enforcement actions filed on your social security number for fraudulent activities. So when you get this message kindly call back on our number before we begin with the legal proceedings to stop legal proceedings please call 888-478-1494. I will repeat 888-478-1494. Thank you.”
On February 18, 2020, a TDS reader informed us that he received this scam call twice from 916-378-8778. This number was reported on NoMoRob.com as well.
